Q. How much
does it cost to paint an average house? |
| |
| A. We get asked this question a
lot, although you can come close to answering,
there is no way that you can give an honest
estimate without seeing the actual job. There
are many factors that determine the cost of a
paint job, these include preparation, colors,
number of colors, woodwork and details involved,
size and heights of walls, etc. This is why
we’re happy to provide a free on-site
consultation and estimate. |

Q.
How long should a paint
job last? |
| |
| A. Properly applied quality
paint can last up to 10 years on exterior
masonry and stucco surfaces. On exterior wood
and trim, the average is 5 to 7 years. On
interior surfaces, it may last indefinitely. In
many cases, interior painting is changed for
decorating purposes and light maintenance
situations. |

Q.
If I'm
completely remodeling, should I have you paint
before or after changing the floor coverings? |
| |
| A. In most cases, we would want
to paint before and then come back after we
finish the flooring to do a final touch-up. |

Q.
What kind of preparation
needs to be done before applying paint? |
| |
| A. For interior surfaces, the
normal preparation is making sure all surfaces
are clean and acceptable to receive paint or
stain. |
| |
| Glossy
surfaces should be dull or sanded. |
| |
| Walls may
be washed or sanded and checked for cracks, nail
holes and any other defects. |
| |
| Woodwork
should be checked for cracking or filling, in
some cases priming may be required. |
| |
| For
exteriors, all surfaces should be cleaned from
dust, loose paint and foreign contaminates. |
 |
|
Most surfaces
require power washing. |

Q.
Why should I use
a license, bonded, and insured contractor? |
| |
| A. This protects the homeowner
and contractor from property and personal
damage. This also gives both parties legal
recourse. Perspectives Painting Contractors,
LLC is licensed, bonded, and insured. You never
want to do business with someone that is not
licensed and insured, because if they do not do
what their contract says (if they even have one
for you to sign) there is nothing that you can
do as a client. |
